What Is the Hurting Officer (伤官) in BaZi?

The Hurting Officer (伤官, abbreviated HO in Yixin Academy's system) is the element that your Day Master produces, in opposite polarity. Its name comes from its structural relationship to the Direct Officer (DO/正官) — HO "hurts" or controls the DO, which represents authority, rules, and social order. An active HO in a chart often indicates someone who resists conventional authority structures.

What Does HO Indicate in a BaZi Chart?

HO in a BaZi chart represents exceptional talent, brilliance, non-conformity, and emotional expressiveness — often at an intense level. HO individuals are rarely content with mediocrity.
