What Is Direct Resource (正印) in BaZi?

Direct Resource (正印, abbreviated DR in Yixin Academy's system) is the element that produces your Day Master, in opposite polarity. It nourishes and supports the Day Master — hence "resource." DR is associated with learning, formal education, intellectual authority, mentorship, and the support of maternal figures and established institutions.

What Does DR Indicate in a BaZi Chart?

DR in a BaZi chart represents intellectual capacity, a love of learning, and the ability to acquire and apply knowledge. People with prominent DR tend to be academically inclined, thoughtful, and nourished by study and reflection. They often have strong intuition alongside their analytical capabilities — DR connects to both intellectual and spiritual wisdom.

DR also represents the mother in a chart (in both classical and modern BaZi interpretation), and a strong DR is often associated with a nurturing, supportive maternal relationship. Institutionally, DR represents one's employer, government support, or any structure that provides sustained backing.
