What is BaZi?
BaZi (八字), literally "Eight Characters", is the classical Chinese system of destiny analysis. Your birth year, month, day, and hour each produce a pillar consisting of a Heavenly Stem (天干) and an Earthly Branch (地支). The resulting eight characters describe the energetic conditions present at your birth — and reveal patterns of personality, relationships, career trajectory, and life timing.
Unlike simple fortune-telling, BaZi is an analytical system. Learning it means learning to read and reason about the interplay of Five Elements in a chart — a skill that deepens with practice and that applies to understanding yourself, your family, and — for practitioners — your clients.

The curriculum is built on classical texts (《滴天髓》《渊海子平》《穷通宝鉴》《子平真诠》) and delivered through the lineage of Wei Qian Li (韦千里), one of the most respected BaZi masters of the Republican era.
Every student learns to construct the BaZi chart by hand — including Heavenly Stems, Earthly Branches, the full set of interactions (合冲刑破害), Day Master strength, useful gods, and luck pillar analysis. Electronic apps contain errors; only practitioners who can construct charts manually can catch them. This is a non-negotiable part of the curriculum.
The four levels progress from building chart foundations (Level 1) through analytical logic and special structures (Level 2), to reading marriage, children, and wealth (Level 3), and finally to talent, career, health, and the four storage vaults 辰戌丑未 at professional depth (Level 4). Most students take levels sequentially, spaced weeks apart for practice between sessions.

The bridge from foundations to reading. The focus is on how to approach any chart — where to start, what to prioritise, and how to build analytical logic. Not yet about life events — about thinking correctly. 从基础迈向实战分析的衔接阶段。重点是学习面对命盘时的分析方向、判断逻辑与抓重点方法，建立正确的断命底层逻辑。

Real chart reading begins here. The focus shifts to life events — marriage, children, and wealth. You will learn to analyse possibilities and trends from the chart structure, Spouse Palace, Ten Gods, and the interaction of luck cycles. 正式进入论命实战，聚焦婚姻、子女与财富等人生重要课题，从命局、夫妻宫、十神与岁运组合关系中分析人生事件的可能性与发展趋势。

The hardest part of learning BaZi isn't the classroom — it's sitting alone in front of a real chart and not knowing where to start. This is the problem the Annual Zoom Mentorship is designed to solve. 学八字最难的，往往不是上课时听懂，而是课程结束后，真正面对一个陌生命盘时，不知道该从哪里开始、如何抓重点、怎样把理论落实为判断。一年Zoom实战陪跑计划正是为此而设。
Once a month, Master Yi Xin hosts a live Zoom session where students bring real charts and work through them together — with guidance on analysis direction, logical sequencing, and reading priorities. Is BaZi hard to learn?
BaZi has many components, but it is structured knowledge — and the course builds it in the right sequence. Most students are reading basic charts by the end of the foundation module. Depth develops with practice.
How long does it take to learn BaZi?
The course runs across four levels, each 2 days. Level 1 (Basic) gets you constructing and reading your first charts. Level 2 (Intermediate) builds the analytical methodology. Level 3 (Advanced) covers marriage, children, and wealth. Level 4 (Master) brings professional-level proficiency. Most students take each level a few weeks apart to practise between sessions.
Do I need to know Chinese?
All BaZi courses at Yixin Academy are taught in Mandarin (普通话). Course notes are provided in both Chinese and English, and Chinese terminology is introduced with English explanations throughout. Working Mandarin is recommended to follow the instruction comfortably.
Can I get my own chart analysed during the course?
Yes. Master Yi Xin uses students' own charts as teaching material where appropriate, which makes the learning both practical and personally relevant. You may also use the free BaZi calculator on this site to generate your chart before the course begins.
