How BaZi Compatibility Actually Works
Most "Chinese zodiac compatibility" checks online compare one thing: your zodiac animals — the year branches of two charts. Classical 合婚 goes much deeper. The year branch is the outermost layer of a BaZi chart; the day pillar is the personal core. Your day stem is your Day Master (日主) — your elemental self — and your day branch is your spouse palace (配偶宫), the position classical texts read for marriage specifically.
This calculator scores five classical layers: year-branch relations (the zodiac layer, honestly weighted), Day Master interaction (五行生克 between your day stems), spouse-palace relations between your day branches, elemental complement (what each chart's abundance brings to the other's scarcity), and the nayin (纳音) of the day pillars — the folk-classical "sound of the pillars" check. That day-pillar depth is what separates BaZi compatibility from zodiac-match lists.
The clash myth, reframed
